Diese Website ersetzt und bereichert einen ersten Versuch, der 2010 ins Netz ging, jetzt aber desaktiviert ist http://www.leopardefoligno.org/.

Assignment letters

A) Charles II to Giovanni dell’Acqua and Bertrand Miracla, Aix, July 2, 1297

In Aix, July 2, 1297, king Charles II, in order to avoid damage to his rights, orders Giovanni dell'Acqua and Bertrand Miracla to visit the baillies and vigueries of Avignon, Tarascon, Arles, Réauville, Aix, Marseille, Hyères, Brignoles, Saint-Maximin, Barjols, as well as those of the county of Forcalquier (districts of Sisteron with the lands of the Hospitaller knights, Forcalquier, Pertuis, Aygues and Apt, including the Val de Sault), and to investigate, with the aid of registers, cartularies, documents and testimonies, on the royal property, its consistency and to which it is entrusted, and to draw up a report which will be delivered to the king. In addition, another report will be also produced, which will identify the unduly occupied goods and jurisdictions, the names of their owners, how long they have been held and which is their value. Other letters will be dispatched to local officers so that they assist the two commissioners.

In Aix, September 28, 1297, Charles II asks the seneschal’s lieutenant, Rinaldo di Letto, to order local officers to draw up a list of the royal possessions in the baillies and vigueries of Nice, Grasse, Draguignan, Castellane, Digne, Val di Stura, Barcelonnette and Seyne, and to send a report to the rational of Provence Pierre of Toulouse.

D) Rinaldo di Letto, vice-seneschal, to local officers, October 2-5, 1297

In Aix, October 2, 4 and 5 1297, Rinaldo di Letto, vice-seneschal, orders the judges, bailes, clavarii and notaries of the courts of Forcalquier, Saint-Maximin and Barjols, Brignoles and Saint-Maximin, and to the vicar of Aix, under penalty of 100 livres for bailes, judges and clavarii, and 50 for notaries, to draw up a list of the king's possessions and rights, with their neighbours and income, within three months; to record it in a register which also mentions free goods affected by transfer taxes; and to send it to the rational Pierre of Toulouse.

Dieser Atlas beruht auf den von Marc Bouiron (Directeur interrégional Méditerranée, INRAP) erstellten Karten. Er arbeitete gemeinsam mit Thierry Pécout, François Guyonnet, Sandrina Claude, Jean-Claude Poteur, Mariacristina Varano, Yann Codou, Claude Roux, Nathalie Molina, Élisabeth Sauze und Mathias Dupuis an den Bänden der Generalerhebung des Leopardo da Foligno. Die Karten stellen also die Situation in der ersten Hälfte des 14. Jahrhunderts dar. Die Listen der Bezirke in der Datenbank Europange sind eine nützliche Ergänzung.

Es handelt sich um Zentren von Vogteien und Landvogteien, wo der königliche Hof eine lokale Verwaltung unterhält (bajulus oder Vogt, Richter, clavarius, Notare, Ausrufer, Wachpersonal, Nuntien etc.). Manosque liegt in der Vogtei (vicaria) von Forcalquier, hängt aber von dem Ritterlichen Orden St. Johannis vom Spital zu Jerusalem (Hospitaliter) ab; Martigues (L’Île Saint-Geniès) befindet sich in der Vogtei von Aix und ist der Sitz des Bajulus des Herrscherguts.  Sospel ist der Hauptort der Vogtei (bajulia, später vicaria) des Herzogtums Ventimiglia und Val de Lantosque.
